Book Club | The Nine Tailors by Dorothy L Sayers
Listen to the Tea & Tattle Book Club: The Nine Tailors
This week, I’m bringing you an extra Tea & Tattle episode: the Tea & Tattle Book Club discussion of The Nine Tailors by Dorothy L Sayers. Unfortunately, Sophie and I weren’t able to find a time to record, but a special guest stepped into the breach to chat about the book with me - can you guess who?!
I reread The Nine Tailors often during the winter, as its memorable opening scene takes place on New Year’s Eve, when Lord Peter Wimsey has an accident in the snow whilst he’s driving through the Fenlands of East Anglia. Lord Peter is rescued by the Reverend of Fenchurch St Paul, and he becomes involved in the Reverend’s project of ringing in the New Year with an impressive eight hour peal of bells. Little do the bell ringers know that mysterious activities are taking place as they greet the New Year, and Lord Peter will soon be recalled to Fenchurch St Paul once a body is found in a freshly dug grave….
I hope you enjoyed The Nine Tailors if you joined in with this Book Club read and that it’s inspired you to read more novels by Dorothy L Sayers.
