The Tea & Tattle Book Club

November 2018 Discussion: The Shooting Party by Isabel Colegate

For each season of Tea & Tattle Podcast, I host a special Book Club episode. For the Autumn 2018 season, I've picked The Shooting Party by Isabel Colegate for the T&T Book Club.

I'll be discussing the book with my friend Sophie, who will join me on Tea & Tattle in mid-November to swap views on Colegate's classic novel, and I would love listeners to read along with us too! If you have any thoughts on the novel, please do share them with me by the end of October, so that I can select some comments to include in my recorded discussion with Sophie. You can email me at with your opinions on the book!

Said to have been the inspiration behind 'Downton Abbey,' Isabel Colegate's 'The Shooting Party' is set in the autumn of 1913, just before the outbreak of WW1. A dazzling array of guests gather at an Oxfordshire estate for a shooting party. As war looms on the horizon, their peace is shattered, and the world as they know it will never be the same again....

I hope you're able to read along with us, and do let me know what you think of the book. Also, if you'd like to make sure you're the first to hear about upcoming Book Club choices, then make sure you've signed up to the Tea & Tattle newsletter, as subscribers receive the latest Book Club announcements before anyone else!
